200 Jahre Jenaische Burschenschaft

Student fraternity is not the same as student fraternity. This was evident at the second weekend of June 2015 in Jena, Germany, when the ceremony of the 200th anniversary of the first student fraternity “Burschenschaft” was celebrated. The three “Burschenschaften” of Jena “Teutonia”, “Germania” and “Arminia” invited their fellow unions to the city in which more than 600 guests gathered.
Not invited were the representatives of the so-called "Deutsche Burschenschaft", a right-wing umbrella organization of which the organizers in Jena distanced clearly.

Among the events in Jena, I received an exclusive insight. My work documents a weekend between festivities and timid protest.
